How to wash and care for your
cutting board or butchers block:

Washing:
Wash with warm mildly soapy water without submerging, rinse with warm water without submerging the board. Dry with cloth and pack vertically to dry on a rack, ensuring the board is not sitting in water pools. Dishwashing will destroy your board in no time!

Disinfection: (When needed).
After washing, spray the board down top and bottom with a water/vinegar mixture 4-1(80% water, 20% vinegar). Let the vinegar do its work for 5 minutes and follow with a rinse and dry. We would recommend treating the board after disinfection and drying.

General Maintenance & Hydration:
(After first wash and dry, after 5th wash and dry. Periodically or when your board starts looking dull or dry).

Firstly ensure that the board is dry.  Using our food safe mineral oil or beeswax butter, apply a coat to the entirety of the board. Allow to soak for at least 5 minutes (The longer the better). Remove any excess oil with a dry cloth or paper towel, wiping off in the direction of the grain.

Additional Tips:
Avoid leaving your board outdoors in the sun, or near heat sources such as electrical appliances or cabinets under an oven or stove.

What is the difference between Food Safe Mineral Oil & Beeswax Butter?

Food Safe Mineral Oil – Our food safe mineral oil is a fantastic choice for board care. The oil penetrates deeper than beeswax butter and will leave your board hydrated and looking beautiful.  Unlike olive oil, and other oils, our mineral oil will not go rancid over time. Once applied, your board is sealed and has a medium level of protection against liquids, foods and stains. The mineral oil is very easy to apply and need only be wiped on and off.

Beeswax Wood Butter – Our Beeswax Wood Butter is a best of both combination. It contains two ingredients, food safe mineral oil, and 100% natural beeswax. Whilst the beeswax butter does not penetrate as deep as mineral oil only, it leaves a higher level of protection against liquids, foods and stains. Applying and removing excess butter will take a little more time and effort compared to applying mineral oil, but the results are worth it.

Wood care fanatics can apply food safe mineral oil, followed by beeswax butter for the ultimate level of protection.  But this is not necessary for the home user provided that your board is periodically treated.
